Network accounts provide you with the following benefits:
Access to the Internet - You can access the Internet from student computers in the libraries, and computer labs.
Access to Office 365 - With Office 365, you can access email with a TAFE Gippsland student address, and OneDrive where you get 25 GB of space in the cloud to store your documents.
Access to the student wireless network - You can access the wireless network while on campus, using your own wireless devices.
Your network account username is the same as your Student ID.
To log on to the network on a student computer, you'll need to log off (if you've logged on using a generic account) then log back in using your username and the password you used when you created your network account:
Office 365 provides TAFE Gippsland students an @student.tafegippsland.edu.au email and 25 GB of file storage (with OneDrive).
You can log on to Office 365 at https://login.microsoftonline.com. If you are prompted for a username and password, use your TAFE Gippsland email address (<yourstudentid>@student.tafegippsland.edu.au) and your student account password.
Please note that it may take an hour before your Office 365 account is made available.
First step is to create a network account with the Student Accounts Manager.
You should refer to your device manufacturers instructions for connecting to a wireless network. The TAFE Gippsland Bring Your Own (BYO) device wireless network is called TAFE-GIPPSLAND and is an open network. This means that you are able to connect to the wireless network itself without a username and password, however when you try to browse to the Internet you will be initially redirected to the page displayed below. When prompted for a username and password, use the username and password you used when you created your network account.
Due to the numerous combinations of personal devices and operating systems that may be accessing the TAFE Gippsland wireless network, user support is not available to students or staff unable to successfully connect their personal devices to the TAFE Gippsland wireless network. Additionally, TAFE Gippsland takes no responsibility for the effect on end-user devices while attempting to configure for, or connect to, the wireless network. It is an end-users' responsibility to configure their personal devices to successfully connect to the TAFE Gippsland wireless network.
eduroam is short for 'education roaming'.
eduroam is a global service enabling staff and students of educational, research and related institutions to visit another eduroam participating institution and connect to the visited institution's wireless network automatically, i.e. with minimal effort for both user and visited institution.
Click here to find out more about connecting to the eduroam wireless network.
We don't store student passwords, so can't tell you what it is. If you've forgotten your password or just want to change it, you can login to the Student Accounts Manager (SAM) - click 'Forgotten Password' when asked for your password. You will be required to answer the secret question you provided when you created your account. Once logged into SAM, you can change your password.
Ask your teacher or librarian to reset your secret question and answer.
Once you have received your new secret question and answer, login to the Student Accounts Manager, using your reset secret answer, then change your password, and set a new secret question and answer.
