Student network accounts provide you with the following benefits:

Access to the Internet - You can access the Internet from student computers in the libraries, computer labs and using your own BYO computer while on campus..

Access to Printing - You can access printing services from student computers in the libraries, computer labs and using your own BYO computer while on campus.   (See How do I print from my BYO device?)

Access to Office 365 - With Office 365, you can access email with a TAFE Gippsland student address, online Office Application and OneDrive with 25 GB of space in the cloud to store your documents.

Access to the student wireless network - You can access the wireless network while on campus, using your own  Bring your own device (BYOD) to access printing and the internet.

Every student lab has a generic student account (i.e. BAI100, TRA100) these are only used for creating a student account with Student Accounts Manager. You can not access the internet or use the installed Office 365 software with a generic account.

To log on to a student computer to access internet/printing, you'll need to log off (if you've logged on using a generic account) the log back in using your username and the password you used when you created your network account.

Your network account username is the same as your Student ID.

Username format: studentid

Office 365 provides TAFE Gippsland students an @student.tafegippsland.edu.au email, online Office Application and OneDrive with 25 GB of space in the cloud to store your documents.

You can log on to Office 365 at https://office.com from anywhere within Australia. (See Will I be blocked if I'm using a VPN?)  If you are prompted for a username and password, use your TAFE Gippsland email address ( @student.tafegippsland.edu.au) and your student account password.

Please note that it may take an hour before your Office 365 account is made available after creating a SAM account.

Yes. For cyber security reasons TAFE Gippsland implements Geo-blocking to restrict access to TAFE Gippsland services from outside Australia. For example, If you use a VPN service to protect your online privacy, you will be blocked if connecting via an international server IP address.

The same applies if you are travelling overseas, connected to a wireless network with an international IP address and attempting to access Office 365 or Moodle

TAFE Gippsland uses Geo-blocking to block malicious traffic and protect business data.

First step is to create a network account with the Student Accounts Manager.

You should refer to your device manufacturers instructions for connecting to a wireless network. EDUROAM is the recommended wireless network for student use.

The TAFE Gippsland Bring Your Own (BYO) device wireless network is called TAFE-GIPPSLAND and is an open network. This means that you can connect to the wireless network itself without a username and password, however when you try to browse to the Internet you will be initially redirected to TAFE Gippsland sign in page. This sign in process is required every 24 hours to continue access to internet.

When prompted for a username and password: use the username format below and the password you set up when you created your SAM network account.

Username format: studentid

Android Users: Device connection success will vary depending on the operating system version. If you have issues connecting to TAFE-GIPPSLAND, try the EDUROAM wireless network by following the instructions “How do I connect to the Eduroam wireless network?” Also see Disclaimer.

Once successfully connected your computer will automatically connect to the EDUROAM network upon arriving on campus. No further configuring necessary unless you change your password.

The SAM system is a self-manage system. We don't store student passwords, so we can't tell you what it is. If you know the answer to your secret question, that you initially setup, you can change your own password.

If you've forgotten your password or just want to change it, you can login to the Student Accounts Manager (SAM) - click 'Forgotten Password' when asked for your password. You will be required to answer the secret question you provided when you created your account. Once logged into SAM, you can follow the prompts to change your password.

If you have forgotten your secret question, that OK! Our Librarians, Teachers and Support Staff have access to a console to reset your secret question enabling you to change your password. Please see your a staff member for assistance.

Ask your teacher or librarian to reset your secret question and answer.

Once you have received your new secret question and answer, login to the Student Accounts Manager, using your reset secret answer, then change your password, and set a new secret question and answer.
